Governance, leadership and capacity development for digital transformation

Specialist in educational programmes at the UNESCO Regional Office in Santiago and in Coordination with the United Nations for Latin America and the Caribbean. She currently leads the Innovation and Digital Transformation and Lifelong Learning unit.

His main responsibilities include promoting and identifying trends in ICT and education policies at the regional level, providing advice for the development of ICT-related projects, and managing technological platforms and portals.

Throughout her career, Beatriz Pont has worked on education policy, education change, and school leadership internationally. As Global Training Lead at UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), she currently leads a team of specialists to develop the IIEP UNESCO Global Campus and teaches selected courses, such as the new Education Leadership Seminar. Her work focuses on strengthening the capacities of education policy-makers and planners to analyze and formulate sound education policies and implementation plans.

Prior to joining IIEP, she worked at the OECD Directorate for Education and Skills, where she launched and led OECD countries’ education change and implementation support and worked with many different countries in their school improvement reform efforts. She also spearheaded a comparative series on education reforms, Education Policy Outlook, on school leadership, equity and quality in education, and adult learning. Previously, she was a researcher in the Economic and Social Council of the Government of Spain.

Pont teaches Comparative Education Policy at Sciences Po School of International Affairs, Paris, and has written numerous articles and keynotes internationally on leading education change.

Sociologist from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (Bolivia) and holds a master’s degree in Globalization Phenomena with an emphasis on new technologies from the University of Gothenburg (Sweden). In addition, she has completed several specializations, including a diploma in Argentina on “Teaching in the Digital Culture.” She currently coordinates the digital transformation in education portfolio in the LAC region as Education Specialist at UNICEF’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean. She previously led the digital education and adolescent skills development portfolio at UNICEF Bolivia.

Experienced public sector manager with a history of working at top management levels in the education, science, and technology sectors. Skilled in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Technology Education, STEM Education, ICT in Education, Public Policy, Teacher Training, and Educational Technology. Holds a Ph.D. focused on Computer Science from Kagoshima University 鹿児島大学 (Japan) and a Master of Education focused on Technology Education from Aichi University of Education 愛知教育大学(Japan). 

Bachelor in Physics and Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences, he has worked as a teacher in the school system teaching physics, electronics, and robotics, and in the university system he has taught courses on digital humanities and innovative teaching and learning methodologies. In addition, he has worked as an advisor to schools and universities and in public policy related to pedagogical innovation in Chile and abroad.
