Teachers: the cornerstone of disability-inclusive education
Disability-inclusive education cannot be achieved without teachers. Yet in many low- and middle-income countries, teachers remain under-supported, under-consulted, and under-represented in education sector planning. From policy design to classroom practice, the gap between commitment and implementation often depends on how well education systems listen to, invest in, and support their teachers.
What is the role of teachers in disability-inclusive education sector planning? How can teachers be supported as they implement disability-inclusive education sector planning, and how can educational planners ensure their feedback shapes future planning? How can insights from learners about what makes a “good teacher” be integrated into teacher training and sector planning? How can educational planners strengthen the link between teacher allocation and improved school attendance and learning outcomes?
Join our upcoming webinar where we will place teachers at the centre of the conversation on disability-inclusive education sector planning. Drawing on multi-country research, learner voices, and frontline policy design and implementation experience, participants will explore what it takes for disability-inclusive sector plans to move from policy commitment to classroom reality.
This is the third webinar hosted by the Community of Practice on Disability-Inclusive Education Sector Planning (CoP-DIESP) as part of the regional programme Planning for inclusive education, funded by the Italian cooperation through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
